Policies
Multiple Policies can be defined supporting an organizations Risk Policy. Policies can be defined for: Collections, Credit Limits, Exceptions, Financial Selection, the RAM Score and Selling Terms.
Collection Policies
To establish Collection Rules and Actions a Collection Limit Policy must be established. Thereafter, whenever an account matches a rule, the associated collection action is suggested.
Collection Policies are accessed in Tools, by expanding Policies on the left navigation panel and selecting Collection Policies.
Collection rules can be defined by creating Collection:
- Rules
- Actions
- Association between the Rule and the Action
Rules
A new Collection Rule can be created by using a combination of Database Fields, Operators, and Suggested Values.
To create a new rule:
- Click +New Rule. The Criteria Builder will display.
- Enter the Rule Description.
- Select the Database Fields.
- Select an Operator.
- Click Save.
Additional Available Fields | Description |
Suggested Values | Values are available when a lookup table is associated with the Database Field |
Add to Criteria | Adds & Displays the criteria specified. |
Additions to Criteria | Additional data elements and operands can be added by repeating the above and selecting Add to Criteria |
Select Currency | Only apples to Accounts with Currency from the drop down menu. If not available input the values by switching radio value from Description to SQL Description. |
Calculate the Number and Validate | Select Calculate the Number of Accounts Affected to see how many accounts meet your criteria. Once checked, a message appears indicating the rule is valid and displays the number of accounts. |
Description / SQL | The Description or the SQL of the criteria entered will be displayed. Select SQL for manual editing. |
Edit existing rules by highlighting the rule and double clicking.
Action Statement
An Action is the step that should be taken whenever an account meets the criteria of the Collection rule.
To create a new Action:
- Click +New. The Action Builder will display.
- Enter the Action.
- Click OK to save.
Edit an existing action by highlighting the action and double clicking to bring up the Action edit window.
Associating Rules and Actions places an Action(s) directly below a rule creating a link for generating an action(s) to be taken. More than one action can be associated with a rule
Association
To associate rules and actions:
- Select the Collection Rule to be linked.
- Select the Action to be linked.
- Select Link Expressions. The expression will appear under the collection rule.
- Click Save.
To unlink associated rules and expressions:
- Select the Expression under the Credit Limit Rule to be unlinked.
- Select Unlink.
- Save the CL / Expression dis-association.
Recalculating Credit Limits
Recalculating the Credit Limit Policies provides the ability to analyze the effect of new policies and / updates on all of the accounts.
To recalculate Credit Limits can be recalculated by setting up the process on the Process Scheduler view.
To recalculate credit limits:
- Click Tools.
- Select Process Scheduler on the left navigation panel.
- Select +New. The Scheduler screen will display.
- Select Recalculation (Credit Limit)
- Select Save Scoring Details if desired.
- Select Current Filter or All Accounts.
- Select Execute Now or Schedule a Date and Time.
- Select Schedule to submit request.
- Confirm the transaction.
Exception Policies
For eRAM to generate exceptions during the scoring process, Exception Policies must be established. Whenever an account matches a rule, the exception will be triggered with the alert.
Exception Policies are accessed in Tools, by expanding Policies on the left navigation panel and selecting Exception Policies.
Exception Policies can be defined by creating:
- Rules
- Analysis Message
To create a new rule:
- Click +New Rule. The Criteria Builder will display.
- Enter the Rule Description.
- Select the Edit Rule to open the Edit Criteria window to build an SQL statement.
- Select the Database Fields.
- Select an Operator.
- Click Save.
- Select and enter the RAM Score to a predetermined value.
- Select Accept/Reject or Warning to set the accept/reject flag on an account.
- Enter the message to be displayed.
- Click Save.

Financial Selection Policies
Creating a Financial Selection Policy provides the ability to use tagged financial statements based on hierarchical preferences for calculating RAM Scores and Credit Limits. After each import of updated financial data, eRAM will automatically run a retagging process to tag any statements meeting the criteria of the Financial Selection Policy.
Financial Selection Policies can be created by:
- Selecting a Selection Method
- Defining the Statement hierarchy
To access financial selection policies:
- Click Tools.
- Click Policies on the left navigation panel.
- Select Financial Selection Policies.
To select a Selection Method:
- Specify the Statement Type.
- Specify the Latest Date.
- Move the Statement Types from the Statements Available window to the Statements Chosen window by highlighting and clicking the right arrow button.
- Select the Statement and move it with the up/down arrow keys.
- Specify the number of months for a statement to be valid and enter it in the Disregard statements Older than … field and click Save.
If a change occurs in the choice of available statements, a user may wish to change the Financial Statement Policies by returning to the Financial Selection Policies screen to select the new statement type which will appear in the Statements Available window.
By setting up the Financial Statement Policies above, the statement types specified for calculating Ram scores and Credit limits will be tagged. After each import of updated financial data, eRAM will automatically run a retagging process.
To manually schedule retagging:
- Click Tools.
- Select Process Scheduler on the left navigation panel.
- Click + New to open the Scheduler.
- Click Execute Now to execute the retagging, or click Schedule Date/Time to set a scheduled retagging.
- Click Confirm.
NOTE: If Execute Now is selected the following message displays: “Account table update will not take place during Retagging. It is recommended that users do not access the system during Retagging. Do you want to continue?” Click OK to continue or Cancel.
Score Policies
There are four main components for creating a customized scorecard based on the type of analysis that is needed:
Building a Scoring Model | Using Select Model Components (Component Weights) to select the individual risk elements and assign weights to reflect the importance of that element relative to the other elements. |
Applying Scoring Model Rules | Using Scoring Model Selection to establish a scorecard and the rules that determine the affected accounts. |
Creating Lookup Tables | Using Lookup Tables to set the ranges and point values for the risk elements in the scorecard. |
Creating User Fields | Using User Fields to add user-defined data (internal data or third-party information) to the database. |
Scoring Model Selection supports multiple scorecards and the flexibility to generate RAM scores across accounts based on separate and discrete criteria.
To access Scoring Models:
- Select Tools.
- Expand Policies on the left navigation panel.
- Click Score Policies.
NOTE: eRAM comes with one scorecard called Default, which can be used and renamed.
To edit an existing scorecard click on it or select + New.
To build a new Scoring Model:
- Enter the model name.
- Click Criteria Builder and select the rule in the SQL edit icon.
- Enter the rule description.
- Select the database fields.
- Select an operator.
- Enter suggested values when a lookup table is associated with the database field.
- Click Add to Criteria to add the above information.
- Repeat the above process to add additional data elements and operands.
- Select currency values from the dropdown.
- Select Calculate the Number of Accounts Affected to see how many accounts meet your criteria. Once checked, a message appears indicating the rule is valid and displays the number of accounts.
- Select SQL for manual editing.
- Click Save.
- Select and enter the RAM Score to a predetermined value in Score Override.
- Select Accept /Reject or Warning to set the accept/reject flag on an account. Warning will display message only.
- Enter the message to be displayed.
- Click Save.
Selling Term Policies
For eRAM to generate Selling Terms an Account Type must be established and a Selling Term associated. Thereafter, whenever an Account Type matches, the associated Selling Term(s) is suggested.
To access Selling Term Policies:
- Click Tools.
- Expand Policies on the left navigation panel.
- Select Selling Term Policies.
Selling Term Policies can be defined by creating:
- Account Types
- Selling Terms
- Association between the Account Types & Selling Terms
To create account types and selling terms:
- Select + New above the Account Types list.
- Enter the new Account Type Name and click Okay.
- Select + New above the Available Selling Terms list.
- Enter the new Selling Term and click Okay.
- Highlight the Account Type on the Account Types list and the Selling Term on the Available Selling Terms list to be linked, select Link Expression and Save.
NOTE: To Unlink, highlight the Selling Term to be unlinked under the Account Type, select Unlink, and save.
NOTE: To edit the Account Type Name or Selling Term Name, double click the name, enter a new name, and save.
