Step 3: Defining Quality Parameters for a Lookup Workflow

You can use the Quality parameters to set the range of accuracy of the matched Candidates. The Quality Parameters feature is available only for Company Lookups and DUNS Number Lookups. It is not available for SQL, and Unicode Lookups. Access the Quality Parameters by clicking on the Quality icon in the Matching Phase folder area.

The Quality parameters include:

ParameterUse to …
Confidence Code ThresholdSet the minimum score a candidate record must achieve to display as a possible match.
Grade Threshold

Set the range of accuracy for the seven attributes:

  • CompanyName
  • StreetNumber
  • StreetName
  • City
  • State
  • POBox,
  • Telephone

When you configure a property (located in jboss.properties) SECONDARY_ADDRESS_GRADING_REQUIRED to YES, this parameter includes another attribute named, SecondaryAddress. You must have edit permissions for the Confidence Code Threshold Matrix, which is granted through a User Security role, to edit this. Otherwise, it is for information only.

Using the Confidence Code Threshold

You can use the Confidence Code Threshold to set the minimum score a Candidate record must achieve to be considered a match, from 1 to 10. During a Lookup, if this Confidence Code Threshold is not met by any candidate, D&B Integration Manager displays a message: To include more results, decrease the value of the Confidence Code Threshold.

NOTE: As a standard practice, records with a Confidence Code of 7 or higher are considered a good possible match.

To define Confidence Code Threshold Options:

  1. From either the Company Lookup or NLMI Lookup tabs, click Customize Workflow.

  2. In the Matching phase folder area, click Quality . The Quality area opens to the Conf Code Threshold tab.
  1. In the Conf Code Threshold field, type a number in the field, or use the blue slider bar to increase or decrease the threshold for the Confidence Code.
  2. Optionally, use the Confidence Code Matrix table to choose the quality table. When the property, SECONDARY_ADDRESS_GRADING_REQUIRED, is set to YES, a new table, SEC_CCM2, with an 8-byte match grade combination, is also loaded.
  3. Click Apply.

Understanding the Grade Threshold

NOTE: This option is unavailable for NLMI Lookup.

IMPORTANT: The Grade Threshold greatly affects the results of a match. You need proper access to change the definition of Grade Threshold. For more information, review the Matching and Match Grade String information and contact your Implementation Team representative.
